JEE Main Registration 2026 : Exam Profile

Purpose / Objective 
  • For admission to undergraduate engineering programs (B.E/B.Tech.) in NITs, IIITs, other CFTIs, and institutions/universities funded/recognized by participating state governments.
  • JEE (Main) is an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced).
Frequency The exam is held twice a year, in January and April (Session 1 and Session 2).

This gives candidates two opportunities to improve their exam scores if they don’t perform their best on the first attempt.

  • Paper 1 (B.E. / B. Tech.) – Online mode
  • Paper 2A (B. Arch) – Mathematics and Aptitude Test – Online mode, Drawing Test – Pen and paper mode.
  • Paper 2B (B. Planning) – Online mode

JEE Main Registration 2026 : Eligibility 

Type of Criteria Details 
Nationality Criteria The candidate must be an Indian citizen. Foreign nationals, NRIs, PIOs, and OCIs are also eligible to apply.
Required Qualification CriteriaList of Qualifying Examinations (QE)

  • The final examination of the 10+2 system is conducted by any recognized Central/State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi, etc.
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/University.
  • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with at least five subjects.
  • The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) recognizes any Public School/Board/University examination in India or any foreign country as equivalent to the 10+2 system.
  • Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.
  • A Diploma of at least 3 years duration recognized by AICTE or any State Board of Technical Education.
  • General Certificate of Education (GCE) examination at the Advanced (A) Level (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka).
  • Cambridge University High School Certificate Examination or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
  • Candidates who have completed their Class 12 (or equivalent) examination from outside India or from a board other than those mentioned above must provide a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) stating that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class 12 examination.
  • If the Class 12 examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have previously passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination.

JEE Main Registration 2026 : Important Documents 

  1. A clear scanned passport-size photograph in JPG/JPEG format (size between 10 kb and 200 kb),
  2. A clear scanned signature in JPG/JPEG format (size between 4 kb and 30 kb),
  3. Aadhaar card or any other ID proof or admit card of the qualifying exam with a photograph,
  4. Class 10 and 12 or equivalent mark sheets for filling in educational details, and
  5. Credit card, debit card, or net banking details for online fee payment, etc.

Step 1 – New Registration

  • पोर्टल पर लॉगिन करने के बाद, Application Form खुलेगा, जिसे आपको ध्यान से भरना होगा।
  • आपको सभी ज़रूरी डॉक्यूमेंट्स स्कैन करके अपलोड करने होंगे, और
  • आखिर में, आपको एप्लीकेशन फीस देनी होगी और सबमिट ऑप्शन पर क्लिक करना होगा, जिसके बाद आपको एक एप्लीकेशन स्लिप मिलेगी, जिसे आपको प्रिंट कर लेना चाहिए, वगैरह।
